Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson will reportedly be handed a lifetime achievement award by the BBC.
The honour is expected to be presented to the Scotsman during the Sports Personality of the Year awards show in December in recognition of his 27-year career at Old Trafford.
Ferguson could be part of the broadcasters' World Cup coverage in Brazil next year if he accepts the award, according to the Daily Star.
Ferguson refused to speak to the BBC for seven years until 2011 following a documentary featuring his son and football agent Jason.
