Sir Alex Ferguson 'applies to join local golf club'

Sir Alex Ferguson reportedly applies for membership at the exclusive Wilmslow Golf Club.

Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has reportedly applied to become a member of his local golf club.

The 71-year-old has been looking for ways to occupy his time following his decision to retire from management at the end of last season.

The Scotsman is looking for four sponsors to help him gain exclusive membership to the Wilmslow Golf Club, according to The Sun.

Former United star Dwight Yorke is said to be a current member of the club.
