Jamie Carragher compares Gary Neville's Sky exit to Pegguy Arphexad departure

Jamie Carragher jokes that Gary Neville's Sky Sports exit is similar to Pegguy Arphexad's departure from Liverpool.

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher poked fun at Gary Neville when he learned that his fellow Sky Sports pundit was leaving his role to take up the head coach vacancy at Valencia.

This afternoon, the Spanish club announced the surprise appointment of Neville, who will join up with his brother Phil Neville as the former player is already assistant coach at the Mestalla.

After Carragher joined the Sky Sports panel in 2013, he and his Manchester United rival struck up a decent partnership as they teamed together to analyse Premier League matches and provide insight.

After hearing of Neville's career change, Carragher tweeted: "Gutted! This reminds me of when Pegguy Arphexad left for Coventry."

Arphexad spent three years at Liverpool from 2000 to 2003, winning six trophies but only making two appearances in that time.
