Frankie Boyle is dropped by Channel 4 after a series of 'offensive' tweets during the Paralympics opening ceremony.

Frankie Boyle has sparked outrage for his Twitter commentary of the Paralympics opening ceremony on Wednesday night.

The notoriously controversial comedian branded the Saudi Arabian team "mainly thieves" and described Team GB's long jump hopeful as "Taliban assisted".

Another tweet read: "I'm going to the blind football to shout the referee's a deaf bastard."

Boyle also aimed abuse at the Queen, who opened the ceremony, claiming that she "hasn't cracked a smile since Diana died".

Channel 4, which has worked with Boyle in the past and is the host broadcaster of the Paralympics, said in a statement: "Frankie Boyle is not under contract with Channel 4 and we don't have any shows planned with him."

Boyle previously came under fire in May 2011 when he poked fun at Katie Price's eight-year-old disabled son Harvey.
