Fernando Torres looking forward to Anfield return for Steven Gerrard charity match

Fernando Torres says that it will be "fantastic" to be back at Anfield to play in a charity match hosted by Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard.

Fernando Torres is looking forward to being reunited with "a lot of friends" when he returns to Anfield for a charity match hosted by Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard.

The former England skipper has gathered an all-star lineup, including Luis Suarez, Xabi Alonso and Thierry Henry for a charity match on March 29.

Gerrard, whose team will take on a first XI led by former teammate Jamie Carragher, has organised the event to mark his final season at Liverpool before joining MLS side Los Angeles Galaxy in the summer.

Today, Torres, who spent four years at Liverpool before signing for Chelsea, wrote on Twitter: "It will be fantastic to be back at Anfield and meet a lot of friends. Thx Gerrard for the invite."

The striker is currently on loan at boyhood club Atletico Madrid from AC Milan.
