Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson reveals that he intends to read Steven Gerrard's new book as he recovers from a foot operation.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has revealed that he will read Steven Gerrard's new book to help him through his recovery from a broken foot.

The England international, who replaced Gerrard as captain when the midfielder signed for Los Angeles Galaxy in the summer, is expected to be sidelined for eight weeks.

Henderson, who underwent surgery on Monday, has been handed a copy of Gerrard's new book My Story, in which he gives insight into his 17-year career at Anfield.

On Instagram, Henderson wrote: "Surgery done! 1st day of my recovery.... This book helping me to stay focused and positive through my injury. Thanks for all the messages of support and thank you @stevengerrard #YNWA."
