Liverpool's Steven Gerrard 'building £3m mansion in Merseyside'

Liverpool's Steven Gerrard is reportedly planning to build a new £3m mansion in Merseyside, indicating that he intends to return to the UK following his LA Galaxy spell.

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has reportedly put plans in motion to build a £3m mansion in Merseyside for when he retires from football.

The 34-year-old will move to the United States in the summer to begin a new career at MLS side Los Angeles Galaxy, but there are indications that the midfielder will return to Britain eventually.

According to the Daily Star, Gerrard has submitted plans to the council to build a five-bedroom property, including an indoor swimming pool, a spa, sauna, a children's playroom and homework room.

The site will also reportedly include an outdoor water feature and treehouses for his three children - daughters Lilly-Ella, 11, Lexie, eight, and three-year-old Lourdes.

Gerrard has been part of Liverpool Football Club since he was eight years old.
