Everton to unveil Hillsborough plaque at Merseyside derby

Everton will unveil a plaque honouring the 96 victims of the Hillsborough disaster prior to Saturday's Merseyside derby against Liverpool.

Everton plan to unveil a plaque honouring the 96 victims of the Hillsborough tragedy prior to Saturday's Merseyside derby.

Chairman Bill Kenwright will join members of the Hillsborough Family Support Group at Goodison Park to reveal the plaque at the Park End.

HFSG chair Margaret Aspinall told Everton's official website: "This is a really lovely gesture from Everton, paying tribute to the 96 who lost their lives at Hillsborough.

"I would like to thank Bill and everyone involved, not least the Everton fans who have provided great support to the families over the years."

Inquests into the death of the Liverpool fans are ongoing in Warrington after the original verdict of accidental death from the 1989 disaster were quashed following the emergence of fresh evidence.
