Serie A side Fiorentina will rename their training ground after their late captain Davide Astori, who died aged 31 in March.

Fiorentina have announced that they will rename their training ground in honour of their late captain Davide Astori.

The 31-year-old was found dead at his team's hotel on March 4, just hours before the Viola were due to face Udinese in a Serie A match.

Fiorentina president Mario Cognigni confirmed the decision, with the training ground to become known as the 'Centro Sportivo Davide Astori'.

"We've made this decision because that was his home. He went there every day for training and used to spend time there with his family too," Cognigni told Italian outlet Mediaset.

"We believe that honouring him in this way is the right thing to do so the training ground will now be called Centro Sportivo Davide Astori. We will do it as soon as possible."

Astori played 289 Serie A matches during his career, as well as earning 14 caps for Italy.
