Fiorentina 'to donate full salary from Davide Astori's contract to his family'

Fiorentina reportedly decide to donate Davide Astori's wages to the late footballer's partner and daughter.

Fiorentina have reportedly decided that Davide Astori's salary will be paid to his family following the defender's sudden death.

The club captain passed away at the weekend at the age of 31 while in a hotel room.

Astori, who joined the club from Cagliari in 2016, was found after failing to turn up for breakfast ahead of Fiorentina's Serie A match against Udinese.

Initial reports claimed that the Italy international had died of a cardiac arrest from natural causes, but now it has emerged that Italian authorities are investigating possible manslaughter.

Fiorentina club president Andrea Della Valle has revealed that Astori was due to sign a new four-year contract on Monday, and now according to The Sun, it has been decided that the salary will be donated to the late footballer's partner and two-year-old daughter.
