Lionel Messi and his father Jorge are reportedly summoned to a court in Spain for questioning on alleged tax fraud.

Barcelona star Lionel Messi has reportedly been summoned to a Spanish court to testify on allegations of tax fraud, along with his father Jorge.

It emerged last week that the Argentina international and his father were being investigated for allegedly filing fraudulent tax returns in 2007, 2008 and 2009, amounting to £3.4m.

It is understood that a court in Gava near Barcelona have accepted a complaint lodged by prosecutor Raquel Amada, which means that the Ballon d'Or winner will have to face questioning, according to The Guardian.

Messi is due to appear in court on September 17, but he and his father have not yet been officially charged.
