Germany and Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has reportedly decided to donate his World Cup earnings to the children of Gaza amid conflict in the Middle East.
The 25-year-old, who is of Turkish descent and a practising Muslim, has been celebrating in Berlin after Germany secured their fourth World Cup title with a 1-0 win over Argentina in Sunday's final in Brazil.
Reports have claimed that Ozil pocketed a £237,000 bonus for winning the trophy and £118,000 for securing victory over Brazil in the semi-finals.
According to the Middle East Monitor, Ozil is expected to give all of the money that he earned from the tournament to the territory occupied by Israel.
It is believed that Ozil refused to shake hands with a FIFA official in Brazil due to his support for Israel.
