Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker was introduced as the "big fucking German" while on a TV show in his homeland this week.

The 30-year-old has adopted the nickname, created by Gunners fans, since his move to the Premier League club from Werder Bremen in 2011.

At the start of German sports show Das Torwandschienben, the host swore on air when introducing Mertesacker, who went on to have an interview, as well as taking part in a skills challenge.

An audio of Arsenal fans chanting Mertesacker's nickname was also played a few times during the broadcast.
