Moto GP biker Marco Simoncelli has died following a serious crash during today's Malaysian Moto GP.
The race was immediately red flagged and then cancelled after Simoncelli fell and was then hit by Valentino Rossi and Colin Edwards.
The 24-year-old Italian lay motionless on the track after the incident, in which his helmet was knocked off.
He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment but could not recover from his serious injuries.
Simoncelli's death follows that of British IndyCar racing driver Dan Wheldon, who died after crashing in Las Vegas last week.
