Great Britain's Tom Sykes misses out on World Superbike title

Great Britain's Tom Sykes fails to clinch his second World Superbike title in a row as Frenchman Sylvain Guintoli takes the crown.

Great Britain's Tom Sykes was unable to clinch a second consecutive World Superbike title at the weekend after failing to win both races in Qatar.

Sykes's 12-point lead was slashed to three after finishing third in race one behind winner Sylvain Guintoli of France, who scooped the crown.

The momentum continued to swing in Guintoli's way as he snatched victory in race two to win the title by six points.

The Frenchman set a new lap record in the process.
