Zhongrong Cao takes lead after two events

China's Cao Zhongrong takes a 48-point lead over David Svoboda of the Czech Republic after two events in the modern pentathlon.

Egypt's Amro El Geziry has broken his own Olympic record in the 200m freestyle to finish top of the pile in the swimming section of the modern pentathlon.

Team GB's Nick Woodbridge scooped 1396 points for finishing behind the Egyptian, while Cao Zhongrong of China completed the top three, who all raced in the same heat.

That means that after two events it is Cao who leads the way on 2,376 points, ahead of the Czech Republic's David Svoboda with 2,328 points, who could only finish seventh in his heat.

Woodbridge has climbed up to eighth in the overall standings, while teammate Sam Weale finished second in his heat, but he drops to 14th place.
