Chris Sherrington secures judo gold for Scotland

Team Scotland judokan Chris Sherrington has clinched the Commonwealth Games gold medal in the men's judo +100kg competition after defeating Ruan Snyman of South Africa in the final.

The Royal Marine went an early waza-ari up and then threw Snyman for two waza-ari to take ippon before celebrating by saluting all four sides of the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre.

Meanwhile, Welshman Mark Shaw secured the bronze medal in the +100kg for his win over Sam Rosser of New Zealand after holding down the Kiwi for ippon.

Sherrington's win capped off a memorable day for Scottish judo, as Euan Burton and Sarah Adlington also secured golds on the mat on Saturday.
