Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin has said that it will be a "huge honour" for him when he represents Russia in the Winter Olympics this month.
The Moscow-born 28-year-old arrived in Sochi on the NHL's chartered luxury jet on Monday.
"Of course it's a huge honour for me to represent my country," Ovechkin told reporters. "I'm pretty sure every athlete wants to represent his country at the Olympic games."
Russia's men kick off their Olympic ice hockey campaign with a game against Slovenia in Group A on Thursday afternoon.
