Drew Doughty: Canada had "bad first period" against Norway

Drew Doughty admits that Canada struggled against Norway in the first period of their opening match of the Sochi Games on Thursday.

Canada's Drew Doughty has admitted that his side had a "bad first period" against Norway in their opening Group B match of the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.

Shea Weber and Jamie Benn scored for the North American side in the second period at the Bolshoy Ice Dome, and Doughty himself found the target in the third in a 3-1 win.

"Kind of a bad first period," The AP quotes the 24-year-old as saying.

"We knew we weren't going to be perfect. But the most important thing is we got better as each period went on, and that's what we were looking for."

In the other Group B game on Thursday, Finland defeated Austria 8-4.
