Kate Richardson-Walsh determined to bounce back from World Cup

England hockey captain Kate Richardson-Walsh feels that her side are ready to battle to win the gold medal at the Commonwealth Games.

England hockey captain Kate Richardson-Walsh is determined to put her side's failure at the World Cup behind them to achieve success at the Commonwealth Games.

Jason Lee's side finished 11th at the tournament in the Netherlands which forced the coach to stand down and he has been replaced temporarily by Danny Kerry.

Richardson-Walsh is competing at her fourth games and has won silver and two bronze medals in the past, but this time around she is determined to add gold to her collection.

She told BBC Sport: "The World Cup was devastating, but we have had to move on. I feel we're ready.

"I would love to be on that podium again and complete the set. We're certainly going to go out and fight for that gold medal."

The hockey competition gets underway on Thursday in Glasgow.
