Great Britain begin the European Artistic Gymnastics Championships with a bronze in the men's team final, as Italy scoop the gold medal.

Great Britain began the 2023 European Artistic Gymnastics Championships with a hard-earned bronze in the men's team event in Antalya.

Without three-time Olympic champion Max Whitlock, who pulled out with a minor injury, the team of Jake Jarman, Courtney Tulloch, Adam Tobin, Luke Whitehouse and Joshua Nathan finished with 246.961 on the board to pip Switzerland to the bronze by less than a mark.

Italy took home the title with a total of 249.526, while host nation Turkey gave the home fans something to cheer with a silver medal, scoring 248.262.

GB were the defending European champions heading into Tuesday's competition, but Jarman and Tulloch are the only surviving members of that squad, which included injured world champions Joe Fraser and Giarnni Regini-Moran alongside James Hall.

All five GB gymnasts qualified for at least one individual final on day one, with Jarman and Nathan preparing to contest the men's all-around competition later this week.

The European Championships continue on Wednesday with the women's qualification and team final, with GB being represented by Becky Downie, Alice Kinsella, Jessica Gadirova, Ondine Achampong and Georgia-Mae Fenton.
