Beth Tweddle: GB women have done "amazingly well"

Beth Tweddle says that she and her fellow Team GB gymnasts have done "amazingly well" to reach today's women's team final at London 2012.

Beth Tweddle believes that she and her fellow female Team GB gymnasts have done "amazingly well" to reach the team final at London 2012.

Tweddle, Imogen Cairns, Hannah Whelan, Rebecca Tunney and Jennifer Pinches qualified fifth for the event, which will take place at the North Greenwich Arena later today.

"They've done amazingly well," said Tweddle. "There's so much talent. Hannah Whelan took two European bronze medals on the floor and beam. [She was] only the second person in Great Britain to take a European medal.

"And Rebecca, she's just 15 years old and she's walked into an arena of thousands of people. Then our bars team total was the best we've ever recorded as a Great Britain team. We can't ask for more than that.

"Imogen is clean and consistent. That's why they put her up first on beam."

Britain claimed bronze in the men's event yesterday.
