Scotland's Daniel Purvis clinches bronze in rings final

Scotland gymnast Daniel Purvis finishes third in the rings final to clinch a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games.

Scotland gymnast Daniel Purvis has secured bronze in the rings final at the Commonwealth Games behind a Canadian one-two.

Purvis took an early lead for the host nation, but was beaten by Canada's Scott Morgan, who posted a score of 15.100 following a difficult routine.

Max Whitlock had a chance to seal his fifth medal of the Games for England, when he went third with a well-executed but relatively simple performance.

Naoya Tsukahara pushed Whitlock out of the medals before Kevin Lytwyn posted the second-highest score of the final with the final routine of the day to clinch silver, knocking the Australian down to fourth, and the all-round champion down the fifth.
