Aliya Mustafina claims third medal of European Games

Aliya Mustafina finishes first in the women's uneven bars at the Nation Gymnastics Arena in Baku to secure a third gold medal of these European Games.

Russian Federation gymnast Aliya Mustafina has won her third gold medal of the inaugural European Games by coming out on top in the women's uneven bars.

The 20-year-old, who also prevailed in the individual all-around final and artistic team event earlier this week, scored 15.400 to edge out the chasing pack.

Germany's Sophie Scheder was among those in close pursuit, recording 15.200 at the National Gymnastics Arena to take silver ahead of third-placed Andreea Iridon of Romania.

Russia now have 53 medals in total at the first ever Games, with seven of their 28 golds coming in gymnastics events.

Gold for Mustafina in the uneven bars marks the end of her successful campaign in Baku.
