Marina Chernova: 'Final showing was not our best despite gold-medal victory'

Russian Federation gymnast Marina Chernova says that her gold-medal victory alongside Georgy Pataraya at the European Games did not include the pair's best performances.

Russian Federation gymnast Marina Chernova has suggested that her gold medal-winning showing alongside Georgy Pataraya in the mixed pair all-around final did not include the duo's best performances.

The Russian combination outclassed the field at the National Gymnastics Arena on Friday, having finished well above second-placed Belgium and third-placed Great Britain in the final.

"I think we didn't show our best performances, we could have been better," Chernova told reporters.

"For us, there is no limit to an ideal performance. However, we are totally satisfied and happy with our result."

Russia lead the way in the tournament's medals table, with Azerbaijan in second place and Hungary in third.
