Ukrainian gymnast Oleg Verniaiev takes second Baku gold

Casimir Schmidt is forced to settle for Baku Games silver after being edge out by gold medal-winning Ukrainian Oleg Verniaiev in the men's vault final.

Oleg Verniaiev has claimed a second personal gold medal and a fourth overall for the Ukraine at Baku 2015 by winning the men's vault final.

The 21-year-old scored 15.266 at the National Gymnastics Arena to build on his first-place finish in the men's all-around event on Thursday afternoon.

Elsewhere, there was a first medal of the inaugural Games for the Netherlands' Casimir Schmidt who took silver, while Oleg Stepko - a winner of four Baku medals - did enough to earn bronze.

Stepko's success takes host nation Azerbaijan up to 36 medals in all.
