Stewart Cink critical of USA performance

Former USA Ryder Cup player Stewart Cink feels that his nation's performances in the afternoon foursomes have proved costly at Gleneagles.

Stewart Cink has bemoaned the performance that his fellow Americans have produced at the ongoing Ryder Cup at Gleneagles.

Heading into today's singles matches, the USA trailed 10-6, which has made them huge underdogs to regain the trophy.

Reflecting on the display so far, Cink believes that his nation surrendered the advantage to Europe during the foursomes.

"The afternoon foursomes have been a disaster. Fans are in America are continuing to scratch their heads and search for answers - answers that probably don't exist," he told BBC Sport.

"Winning breeds more breeding. It is so hard to get the snake off your shoulders when you've lost. It is the kind of momentum that lasts from Ryder Cup to Ryder Cup, from session to session."
