Sergio Garcia - who now plays on the LIV Golf tour - comes through qualifying on Monday to earn a spot at next month's US Open.

Sergio Garcia has earned a spot at next month's US Open after coming through a qualifying tournament on Monday.

As a result of leaving the PGA Tour for LIV Golf last year, Garcia has dropped down to 206th in the World Golf Rankings, a result of rarely competing for ranking points.

With his Masters triumph now being six years ago, the Spaniard has also lost many of the privileges which come with being a recent winner at Augusta, leaving him to consider other routes when it comes to major tournaments.

However, Garcia will be present in the field at the third major of the year after finishing in the top eight of a 120-player field at the Northwood Club and Bent Tree Country Club in Texas.

The 43-year-old posted scores of 66 on each course, ensuring that he earned a share of fourth position and booked his spot at the Los Angeles Country Club.

Fellow LIV Golf representative and former major winner Graeme McDowell had been on course to qualify after recording a 64 in his first round, but a 70 on his second 18 holes saw him miss out by a shot.

Another 10 qualifying events are due to be staged on June 5 with 54 places in the tournament still available.
