Sergio Garcia ties course record at Firestone

Sergio Garcia has a three-shot lead going into the weekend at the Bridgestone Invitational, after finishing the second round with seven straight birdies.

Sergio Garcia has birdied the final seven holes to tie the course record at Firestone and take a three-shot lead into the weekend at the Bridgestone Invitational.

The Spaniard finished the second round with a nine-under-par 61, which leaves him well placed to land his first World Golf Championship.

He tied Jose Maria Olazabal's course record set in 1990 after making 27 on the back nine.

"I think that was my lowest round in tournament play and also my lowest nine holes," Garcia told Golf Channel.

Justin Rose finished the day in second place on eight-under, with Rory McIlory and Marc Leishman behind on seven-under.
