America have opened up a three-point lead in the Ryder Cup thanks to Zach Johnson and Jason Dufner's 2&1 triumph over Nicolas Colsaerts and Sergio Garcia.
Following a halved hole on the first, Johnson found an accurate 7-iron on the par-3 second to set up a birdie which the Europeans couldn't equal.
Garcia and Colsaerts could then only make bogey at the fifth to see the Americans go 2 up but it was soon back to one after a bogey of their own from Johnson and Dufner.
The next four holes were halved before Colsaerts made a birdie at the 11th to bring it back all square.
The Europeans' resurgence couldn't continue though as they made a double bogey, then bogey on the next two, to gift Dufner and Johson their 2-up lead.
Garcia chipped in from the fringe on 16 to give the pair hope of a late comeback but Colsaerts then dumped his tee shot into the water on the signature 17th to ensure defeat.
