Henrik Stenson defends DP World Tour Championship crown

Henrik Stenson defends his DP World Tour Championship title with a two-shot victory at the season-ending European Tour event in Dubai.

Sweden's Henrik Stenson held his nerve on the last hole to win the European Tour's season-ending DP World Tour Championship for the second consecutive year.

The 38-year-old finished with a birdie on the 18th at the Jumeirah Golf Estates' Earth Course to end the tournament on 16-under-par, two clear of European Ryder Cup teammates Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose and Victor Dubuisson.

After going out in a two-under 34, Stenson played holes 10-16 in one-over-par to lie level with the above trio on 14-under.

However, he rallied on the 17th and 18th with two straight birdies to clinch consecutive victories in Dubai and seal his first tournament victory of the year after several near misses.

Last year he also won the overall Race To Dubai crown for the entire campaign, but this year that goes to McIlroy for a successful season which included a pair of major titles in the summer.

Stenson's win also moves him up to second in the world rankings behind McIlroy.

Rafael Cabrera-Bello had a two-shot lead midway through the final round ,but bogeyed the 12th before back-to-back double-bogeys at the 16th and 17th put an end to his chances.
