Ireland's Shane Lowry clinches first PGA Tour win at World Golf Championship

Shane Lowry clinches victory at the World Golf Championship for his first win on the PGA Tour circuit - and second title as a professional.

Shane Lowry held off the challenge from three Major winners to break his duck on the PGA Tour by clinching victory at the World Golf Championship in Ohio.

The Irishman, 28, carded a final-round 66 in Akron to close out the win on 11-under-par, two clear of Bubba Watson - also 66.

Victory marks Lowry's second win as a professional, having burst on to the scene in 2009 by winning the Irish Open as an amateur at the age of 22.

Further back, Justin Rose, whose 63 on Saturday propelled him into contention, failed to match that promise as he finished third on seven-under after a disappointing 72.

The Englishman finished level with Jim Furyk, with Robert Streb in fourth.

Lowry also won the Portugal Masters in 2012.
