Nick Watney hit a solid final-round 69 to record a comfortable three-shot win in the Barclays tournament at Bethpage Black.
The American, who finished on 10 under overall, is now assured of a place at the Tour Championship.
Sergio Garcia had held a two-shot lead going into Sunday's play, however the Spaniard could only manage a four-over-par 75 and eventually finished joint third with Dustin Johnson on six under par.
Brandt Snedeker finished second, while Graham DeLaet, Louis Oosthuizen, Lee Westwood and Brian Harman ended up joint fifth on five under.
