Phil Mickelson has prepared perfectly for next week's Open Championship by winning the Scottish Open at Castle Stuart.
The American triumphed over South Africa's Branden Grace in a playoff to win his eighth European Tour title and first on British soil.
Henrik Stenson led by two shots heading into the final round but a 73 saw him drop out of contention, while Mickelson and Grace both produced 69s to force a sudden-death situation.
The four-time Major champion approached the 18th green needing par for victory, but he three-putted to allow Grace in with a shout.
However, after returning to the 18th for the first playoff hole, a dead-on approach set him up for a birdie, while Grace saw his long attempt drift by the cup.
