Dustin Johnson leads by one in Crowne Plaza Invitational

Dustin Johnson shoots a round of 65 to lead by one shot after 18 holes of the Crowne Plaza Invitational.

Dustin Johnson carded a bogey-free round of 65 on the opening day of the Crowne Plaza Invitational to lead his rivals by one shot after 18 holes.

Despite usually catching the eye with his long drives, Johnson elected to take a more conservative approach off the tee to complete a tidy and efficient round at Fort Worth.

A front nine of 31 made sure he got off to the perfect start, but it was a birdie on the 16th hole which earned him the lead on five-under-par.

Four players trail Johnson by one shot, with Tim Wilkinson, Hunter Mahan, Harris English and Robert Streb all recording rounds of 66.

Jimmy Walker, who has won three times on the tour this season, continued his good form by finishing the day alongside a group of nine other players on three-under.
