Frenchman Raphael Jacquelin wins the Spanish Open after a two-hour playoff battle.

Raphael Jacquelin has won the Spanish Open after a dramatic three-way playoff on the final day.

Overnight leader Marc Warren fell away badly on day four, leaving Jacquelin to battle it out with Felipe Aguilar and Maximilian Kieffer.

The Frenchman was happy but tired after the epic two-hour playoff.

"That is very tiring, but I am really, really happy," said Jacquelin.

"I could not make any putts [during the playoff] but the last one dropped which means a lot for me and my family."

The playoff saw each man par the first two attempts at hole 18, while on the third Aguilar missed the green, Kieffer left himself a 30-footer and Jacquelin produced an excellent approach.

The German holed his putt, meaning that he and Jacquelin would have to play the hole for a fourth time, this time without Aguilar.

Kieffer and Jacquelin matched each other a further five times, before on the ninth attempt, Jacquelin produced a good chip to leave himself a tap-in and won the tournament.
