Great Britain and Ireland held off a late challenge from their European opponents to retain the Seve Trophy in Paris.

Great Britain and Ireland have defended the Seve Trophy with a 15 1/2 - 12 1/2 victory over the European team in Paris this afternoon.

The European side won more holes during today's single play, but were unable to bridge the gap that GB&I had opened up over the previous two days of play.

Scott Hanson, Ian Poulter and Mark Foster were all victorious for the reigning champions, while Thomas Bjorn, Anders Hansen, Francesco Molinari, Alexander Noren and Miguel Angel Jimenez won points for the Europeans.

The GB&I side was captained by Paul McGinley.
