Tiger Woods looks to the positives after he misses the cut at the USPGA Championship in Atlanta.

Tiger Woods has decided to take the positives from his worst ever result in a major tournament.

The former world number one missed the cut at the US PGA Championship in Atlanta on Friday - only the third time in his career that he has done so in a major.

The 14-time major winner followed up his opening day 77 with a second-round 73 to go ten-over par and miss the cut by six strokes.

"Now I'll have nothing to do but work on my game," said Woods. "That's going to be good.

"[Coach] Sean [Foley] and I haven't had the opportunity to really sit down and do a lot of work, so this will be our time.

"I think this is a step back in the sense that I didn't make the cut and I'm not contending in the tournament, but it's a giant leap forward in the fact that I played two straight weeks healthy."

The next confirmed event for the 35-year-old is the Australian Open on Thursday, November 10.
