Tiger Woods: 'I'm not in pain ahead of US PGA Championship'

Tiger Woods insists that he is not feeling any pain in his back ahead of the US PGA Championship.

Tiger Woods has revealed that his back problem is no longer causing him pain ahead of the US PGA Championship at Valhalla.

The former world number one was considered a doubt for the final Major of the year after dislodging the sacrum bone in last weekend's Bridgestone Invitational, but he has dismissed suggestions that he will need painkillers to get through the four days.

"My physio is here so if it goes out he is able to fix it," Woods told reporters. "It was a different pain, I knew it was not the site of the surgery. This is something totally different.

"I still need to build up strength and it's going to take more time. The treatment has been fantastic, once the bone was put back in the spasms went away and from there I started to get some range of motion."

Woods will tee off alongside Padraig Harrington and Phil Mickelson on Thursday.
