Rory McIlroy believes that the new bunker rule that has been introduced for this week's US PGA Championship will provide a 'different challenge'.
A ruling has been introduced where every sanded area will not be considered a bunker, meaning players will be able to ground their club and take a practice swing prior to their shot.
McIlroy told Sky Sports News: "It's a little different, especially with the bunkers around the green, because they are not like normal bunkers. There is not much sand and they are very firm.
"You sort of have to play different shots out of them and it is going to provide a different challenge to the one we face week in, week out."
McIlroy is looking to win his second major title after he won the US Open last year.
