Tiger Woods in contention in Malaysia

Tiger Woods hits a five-under-par 66 on the opening day of the CIMB Classic in Malaysia.

Tiger Woods has put himself in contention at the top of the CIMB Classic leaderboard with an opening round of 66.

Woods hit seven birdies on the way to a round of five-under-par to leave himself three shots adrift of leader Troy Matteson.

Matteson fired a bogey-free round of 63 to open up a one-shot lead ahead of fellow Americans Brian Harman, Jeff Overton and Robert Garrigus.

Bo Van Pelt, who won last week's Perth International, finished the first round well adrift of the leaders after he could only fire a round of one-under-par.
