Tiger Woods believes that his win at the Arnold Palmer Invitational has given him "momentum" ahead of The Masters in Augusta.

Tiger Woods believes that his win at the Arnold Palmer Invitational was the ideal preparation for The Masters.

The 36-year-old's five-stroke win from Graeme McDowell has moved him up to sixth in the PGA Rankings, after he fell out of the top 50 last autumn.

It was also the first time that Woods had won a tour event in 30 months and he now believes that he is well-placed to mount a charge in Augusta.

"It's always fun to get there and play and I'm looking forward to the momentum I've built up here," said Woods.

"I still need some work, and it's going to be good to get a week off and work on a few things.

"I was able to hit some really good shots the last two days, and that's a very good sign going into Augusta."

The Masters begin, after practice, on April 4.
