Alstom Open de France leader Jaco Van Zyl describes third round as "phenomenal"

Jaco van Zyl describes his third round of 64 as "phenomenal" after taking a two-shot lead at the Alstom Open de France.

Alstom Open de France leader Jaco van Zyl has described his third round as "phenomenal" after taking a two-shot lead in Paris.

The South African, who has never won on the European Tour, shot the round of the day with a seven-under-par 64 to move two shots clear ahead of the final round tomorrow.

Van Zyl did have the lead in the closing stages on Friday too, but a bogey-double bogey "ambulance" finish saw him drop behind the leaders.

"Today was really a phenomenal round," Van Zyl told PA.

"I felt really comfortable from tee to green and made a couple of nice [putts].

"I was in a similar position yesterday and finished in an ambulance. It's the sort of golf course where you can't let your guard down and have to stay on top of things."

Van Zyl is two shots clear of Maximilian Kieffer and three ahead of Bernd Wiesberger at Le Golf National.
