LIV Golf have confirmed that Cameron Smith is among six players to leave the PGA Tour to join their own tour.
In the hours after his Open Championship victory at St Andrew's in July, Smith appeared to take offence to being questioned over a reported departure from the PGA Tour.
However, the question from the media at the time had substance with it being heavily claimed that the Australian had taken the opportunity to defect to the Saudi Arabia-backed series of events.
Official confirmation was never going to come while Smith was participating in the Fedex Cup, with the final event taking place at East Lake last weekend.
After his 20th-placed finish, Smith now headlines the latest batch of PGA Tour players to officially sign a contract with LIV Golf.

The announcement comes just three days before the next LIV Golf event takes place in Boston from September 2 until September 4.
Smith is joined in making the switch by Chile's Joaquin Niemann, who claimed the second of his two PGA Tour victories at the Genesis Invitational in February.
Marc Leishman, another Australian, joins Smith in committing to LIV Golf, as do American duo Harold Varner III and Cameron Tringale.
India's Anirban Lahiri completes the list, with all six players due to tee it up in Massachusetts later this week.
While the players mentioned are banned from competing on the PGA Tour, a temporary court order has ensured that LIV Golf players can still participate on the DP World Tour for the time being.
At the last count, 18 players have entered next week's BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth, including the likes of Ian Poulter and Sergio Garcia.
