Webb Simpson leads the Wyndham Championship after a six-under third round of 64 put him two shots clear of second round leader Tommy Gainey (69).
The 26-year-old American carded four birdies and an eagle in his final six holes at the Sedgefield Country Club to edge clear of the field on 15-under par.
"That was probably one of my top birdie-eagle streaks that I've had, and it came at a better time than any other streak I've had, just because we're not getting anything going all day and everybody else is taking it low," Simpson said.
Gainey is a lone second, one clear of Sweden's Carl Pettersson (63) and American John Mallinger (65).
South African veterans Ernie Els (69) and Retief Goosen (68) are five shots off the lead on 10-under.
