Francesco Molinari has revealed that he is pleased with his progress at the BMW PGA Championship after topping the leaderboard on day two at Wentworth.

The Italian followed up his opening-round score of 70 with a 68 on Friday to move one shot clear of the chasing pack.

"I'm really happy with yesterday and today," Molinari, 30, is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News. "The conditions were quite tough but I hit the ball well and the putter is working well so I am really happy at the moment."

Rory McIlroy, Graeme McDowell and defending champion Luke Donald all missed the cut on Friday.
