Rory McIlroy will face Lee Westwood in the semi-finals of the WGC Match Play in Arizona.
The Northern Irishman defeated South Korea's Sang-Moon Bae 3&2, while England's Westwood claimed a 4&2 victory over Scotland's Martin Laird at the quarter-final stage.
A tournament win for McIlroy or Westwood would see them replace Luke Donald as the world number one.
The other semi-final is between American pair Hunter Mahan and Mark Wilson.
Mahan beat fellow American Matt Kuchar 6&5, with Wilson securing a 4&3 win over Sweden's Peter Hanson.
