Rory McIlroy will be named as the new world number one following Luke Donald's disappointing showing at the RBC Heritage.
The Englishman needed to finish inside the top eight at the Harbour Town Golf Links in South Carolina to retain his number one status.
However, a third-round 71 saw Donald finish 14 shots off the lead on two-over-par.
Northern Ireland's McIlroy will be at the top of the new rankings when they are published on Monday.
