Paul Lawrie reveals that he is "chuffed" to qualify for the European Ryder Cup team.

Paul Lawrie has revealed his delight at qualifying for the European Ryder Cup team, 13 years after his only other appearance in the competition.

The 43-year-old has enjoyed a turnaround in fortunes on the European Tour to safely qualify for Jose Maria Olazabal's team, and he admits that he cannot wait for the event at Medinah Country Club next month.

"It's nice," said Lawrie. "I am so chuffed to be in the team. It has been a long time. It has been 13 years since I played last time, so I can't wait.

"There have been older players that have played in the Ryder Cup and I'm 43, but it's unique not to have played in it so long and to come back at that age and qualify."

Spaniard Sergio Garcia secured his place in the European team with a victory at the Wyndham Championship earlier this week.
