Jason Day: 'Family comes first'

Jason Day says that he will skip the British Open should the birth of his first child clash with the tournament.

Jason Day has said that he will gladly miss the British Open if it coincides with the birth of his first child.

The Australian has recently been tipped for a "big year" by world number three Lee Westwood, but has said that family will always come first.

"If the baby is coming that week, I will definitely be missing the British Open," said the 24-year-old.

"There is no way I will miss the birth of my first child. Golf is one thing but family is everything to me.

"Golf isn't going to be there if I break my leg or if I lose the plot and forget how to swing a club - my family will be there. It's family first every time."

Day impressed during last year's tour, recording second-place finishes in both the Masters and the US Open.
